Mercedes Mangrané (b. 1988 in Barcelona) develops audiovisual projects by focusing in urban conflicts and the paradoxes of contemporary society. Departing from her most immediate context and observing the details and gestures of the everyday life, she makes films that hybridates the documentary and fiction as well as poltical subjectivities.

Exvotos chases an intimate approximation to the popular devotion, reflecting on the paradox of the search of security through objects. Fluctuating between sacred and profane spaces as the museum, the church or the cemetery (sometimes generating confusion among them) the film-essay generates reflections on the image and its potential focusing on the votive offerings.
