Blok tematyczny: Crossing the Boundaries - Tomasz Raczek & Bartosz Wójcik '18
After a few years of interest in the technological changes in cinema, the Crossing of Boundaries section crosses yet another boundary. This time we watch how the life of the artist very often connects smoothly with their artistic work and the public image which usually functions through the film camera. In the time of the “Bohemian Rapsody” world premiere, a film on the history of the band Queen, we talk about the phenomenon of Freddie Mercury: man, whose life and creative work were an ongoing process of crossing the boundaries. Watching film materials which connect elements of autocreation, wishful visions and downright documentary materials, we wonder whether today it is possible to separate the artistic output and the image created by film and video from the artist’s personal life. Our special guest with whom we will be discussing these issues is Peter Freestone, who for many years was the assistant to and friend of Queen’s legendary leader.
A gripping story about the band Queen, its music, and its remarkable singer Freddie Mercury, who gained countless fans breaking the stereotypes and conventions. The film shows the flashy career of the band who, thanks to its iconic songs and revolutionary sound, reached its heyday, until Mercury’s scandalous lifestyle put it all in jeopardy.
