This film may at times resemble the famous novel “Catch 22”. The director boldly uses in it the absurd and the grotesque. A new US Marine is sent to Iraq. Together with his colleagues from the unit, he gets to know the realities of life in war.

In 1999, he made his debut with the film “American Beauty,” the picture delighted viewers and critics all over the world. Sam Mendes has made many very successful films: “Road to Perdition,” “Jarhead,” “Revolutionary Road,” and the excellent war drama “1917”. The director also made two spectacular works about the adventures of James Bond (“Skyfall” and “Spectre”).
