Film director, producer, scriptwriter. Author of many renowned films, awarded on many international film festivals, including Cannes, Venice, Locarno, Moscow, Chicago, Montreal, Berlin and Tokio. He directs plays performed across the globe and is an author of books. Since 1979 he acts as a head of TOR film studio. Producer of films by Krzysztof Kieślowski, Agnieszka Holland and many others. Professor at the Silesian University in Katowice and doctor honoris causa at many prestigious academies. He gives lectures to students all over the world.
